High Peak Living

New Mills

Being an area of outstanding natural beauty and occupying much of the Peak District National Park, the High Peak is a magnet for walkers, tourists and those seeking adventure, providing a wonderful location in which to live and breath. It's a region that many of our buyers and tenants choose to re-locate to enjoy a better way of life and get away from the bustle of city life yet still benefit from the excellent road and rail links to Manchester and Sheffield. The towns all boast a wide range of independent food retailers and a good selection of restaurants, cafés and pubs whilst also being well served by convenient supermarkets.

Famous for it's geothermal spring water, the ancient spa town of Buxton is a popular tourist destination hosting several festivals each year and has striking architecture at the Crescent, the Pavilion Gardens and the 900 seat Opera House.

Known as the 'Capital of the Peak', Chapel-en-le-Frith originated from a small chapel, built in 1225 by the keepers of the Royal Forest. Today, the town is a small rural market town with a train station on the Buxton to Manchester line. The town is an excellent base from which to explore walks with fantastic views of the High Peak.

The rural village of Hayfield is a popular destination for walkers and tourists. Hayfield has been made famous with the BBC 1 period drama 'The Village' generating even more national awareness of this picturesque part of the High Peak.

Benefitting from two train stations and close proximity to the A6 road, New Mills stands above a natural rocky gorge, known as The Torrs Riverside Park where the River Sett joins the River Goyt. Extending to two miles it is a superb place to walk, picnic and learn about the natural and industrial history of the area.

Close to the A6 road and sitting on the Buxton - Manchester railway, Whaley Bridge is the selfstyled 'Gateway to the Goyt Valley' and still retains the character of a small town. Nearby are several reservoirs which provide beautiful settings for fishing, sailing, canoeing and walking.
